Kibin, Inc. ("Kibin," "we," "us") provides an AI-powered study platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose personal information when you use our website, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). Information You Provide
- Account information: name, email address, and profile picture (provided via Google or Apple authentication)
- Study content: notes, documents, PDFs, audio files, and YouTube links you upload
- Study activity: quiz answers, flashcard responses, explain interactions, and mastery progress
- Payment information: processed by Stripe (web) or Apple In-App Purchase (iOS); we do not store credit card numbers
- Communications: feedback, support messages, and survey responses
- Onboarding data: education level, field of study, study goals (optional)
Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, session duration, and interaction patterns
- Device information: browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution
- Network information: IP address and approximate location
- Cookies and similar technologies: we use cookies for authentication, preferences, and analytics
Information From Third Parties
- Google: name, email, and profile picture when you sign in with Google
- Apple: name and email (or a private relay email) when you Sign in with Apple
- Stripe: subscription status and payment confirmation (not card details)
- RevenueCat: subscription status for Apple In-App Purchases
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide the Services: process your uploads, generate quizzes and flashcards, track mastery, and deliver AI-powered explanations
- Process payments: manage subscriptions, billing, and free trial periods
- Improve the Services: analyze usage patterns, conduct research, and develop new features
- Communicate with you: send account notifications, respond to support requests, and provide study reminders
- Prevent abuse: detect fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and prevent free tier exploitation
- Comply with law: respond to legal requests and fulfill regulatory obligations
3. AI Processing
Your uploaded content is processed by third-party AI services to generate quizzes, flashcards, summaries, and explanations. This processing is necessary to provide the core functionality of our Services. We do not use your content to train our own AI models. However, our third-party AI providers may process your content in accordance with their own terms and policies.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Service providers: companies that help us operate the Services, including cloud hosting, payment processing (Stripe, Apple, RevenueCat), email delivery, AI processing, and analytics providers
- Legal compliance: when required by law, regulation, or legal process
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
- With your consent: when you direct us to share information
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. When you delete your account, we delete your study materials, progress, and personal data. We retain a record of your email address to prevent free tier abuse (see our Terms of Service). We may retain aggregated, anonymized data indefinitely.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and portability: you can access your study data through the Services
- Correction: you can update your name and profile in Settings
- Deletion: you can delete your account and all associated data in Settings
- Marketing opt-out: you can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time
- Cookie controls: you can manage cookies through your browser settings
8. Children's Privacy
Kibin is intended for high school students and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. 9. International Users
Kibin is operated from the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may not provide the same level of data protection as your jurisdiction.
EEA, UK, and Switzerland
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal information on the following legal bases: (a) performance of our contract with you, (b) your consent, (c) our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services, and (d) compliance with legal obligations.
